Buy Before January 1st to Save Thousands.

It’s December already, can you believe it? Where does a year go? With the year coming to a close, you may hear a lot about “Section 179” and how you’re business can benefit if you are looking to purchase some equipment before 2013.

We get just as confused as the next guy when you start talking “tax rate”, “deductions” and “depreciation”. We thought we would do a little research and try to explain how this could be a HUGE benefit to small businesses.

When we say ‘equipment’, we mean any large purchase you buy to benefit your business. Some examples: a paint booth to help your productivity, a car lift to increase your repair business or a frame machine for the busy winter months. If your business needs it to increase business and it’s an ‘investment’, it is most likely included in this category.

You can even finance it in 2013, but write it off in 2012 and save thousands.

So, section179 is what exactly? It’s an incentive created by the U.S. government to encourage businesses to buy equipment and invest in themselves. Essentially, Section 179 of the IRS tax code allows businesses to deduct the full purchase price of qualifying equipment purchased (or financed) during the tax year. Wow! The FULL PURCHASE PRICE will be deducted from your gross income. (As long as the total purchase price is less than 139,000.) Continue reading Buy Before January 1st to Save Thousands.

Free Freight Fallacy

The old saying, “There is no such thing as a free lunch”, supports the concept that you cannot get “something for nothing.”  Many internet businesses advertise “free freight” so consumers will believe they are getting a great deal.  Merchants are actually just hiding freight and shipping costs by marking up the price of the product.  Freight and shipping providers expect to be paid for their services which include packing, palletizing, loading, documentation, transporting, unloading, and insurance.  These services can account for up to 50% of a product’s cost and it is you, the consumer, who pays for this whether it is included in the product price or added separately.

Tools USA chooses to itemize these charges to be upfront with our customers.  We will do everything we can to offer the best freight pricing without lowering our standards.  Our shipping department makes every effort to ship your paint booth or frame machine in a manner that allows for easy offloading, which includes arranging a carrier and extending the discounts provided to us by our shipping partners.  When possible, a flatbed is used to transport larger automotive body shop equipment.

At Tools USA our product knowledge is superior because we manufacture many of our products. This enables us to provide “great customer service” which includes accessibility, support, and innovation.  So, when you are shopping for a spray booth, frame rack, powdercoat system, or other auto body tools and equipment, make sure you do your research.  Free freight may seem like a bargain at first, but in the end products with free freight may not provide the value anticipated by consumers.

Should you Consider a Used Frame Machine?

If you are in the market for a frame machine you are probably asking if you should buy a new one or look for a used one.

A used frame machine can be a good alternative to purchasing a new frame rack if the unit is in proper working order.  Most machines will need some repairs or replacement of hydraulics and chains which can cost thousands of dollars.  Additionally, transportation costs of the frame straightener can be very costly depending on the distance the machine will need to be moved.

Purchasing a new frame machine could save your auto body collision shop money on future repairs as well mitigate any risk of problems with a used machine.  Also, a new machine will come with warranties and support.

Most Popular Frame Machines

Tools USA’s best selling frame machines are the Galaxy Series Galaxy ELITE 18′ Model Tilt Frame Machine and Galaxy 18′ Model Tilt Frame Machine. These frame racks will do the same work that more expensive machines do for a fraction of the price.

The most important part of buying a frame machine is to do business with a reputable company that will assist with warranty issues, replacement parts and support. Tools USA has been in business for 30 years and we have a dedicated frame machine specialist to answer your questions.

Winter season is quickly approaching so be sure to have your Frame Machine ready to go to service your auto body shop customers.

FRAME MACHINE

GENERAL FRAME MACHINE INFO

Frame machines are designed to hold a vehicle in place while the damage is hydraulically removed. There are two main styles of frame machines that come in many configurations. The drive on platform style machine (frame rack) and the drive over European style machine (frame bench). There are stationary bed, tilt bed and multiple height machines. The machine that works best for your operation may be determined by the type repairs that you do. Rebuilders may need three or more towers and a heavy duty machine were as the regular body/collision repair shop will normally only need two towers and a general duty machine.

DOMESTIC OR IMPORT FRAME MACHINE

Most of the frame machines sold in the United States today are manufactured in China, including some of the well known names that have been around for years, always ask where the machine is built. This does not mean that the equipment is not well made or sub standard but you do need to know that there are varying degrees of quality. The higher quality Chinese equipment is a tremendous value and will give you years of service. Standard Tool is one of a very limited number of companies that manufactures frame machines in the United States. We offer our Galaxy Ultraliner series import for our value minded customer but we still build our Star Rack and Galaxy machines in North Carolina.

SELECTING THE RIGHT SIZE MACHINE

There are many different size frame machines available that will allow you to accommodate various size cars, trucks and SUV’s . Standard Tool/Tools USA also has the capability to build custom size machines when there is a space limitation. Passenger vehicles and trucks up to short bed extended cab (18’) can be repaired on a 17, 18’ or 20’ bed where the long bed crew cab trucks (23’) will require a 22’ machine.

FRAME MACHINE OPERATION

A Frame machine is not a piece of equipment that you should attempt to operate without proper training.

SELECTING A FRAME MACHINE SUPPLIER

When you are shopping for a frame machine you should research the company that you are considering purchasing from. If you search the internet for frame machine you will be find many offerings. You want to be sure that you are dealing with a reputable seller, this is extremely important. You want to select a supplier that has a long history in the industry and extensive knowledge of their products. There are a lot of one and two man shows selling equipment over the Internet that will not be there or will be unwilling to help when you need customer service after the sale. Like anything else you are purchasing, you want to be sure that you are buying from a company who knows what they are doing. In the market today, it is easy to find places to buy equipment that is not going to be of the quality that you expect, the lowest price is not always the best buy. This means that you need to research the company background and the equipments reputation that you plan to purchase.
